To honour International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8, 2022, the Town of Conception Bay South is hosting a Celebration of Stories to acknowledge the achievements of local women and bring awareness to the 2022 IWD theme: Break the Bias.

The virtual event will take place on March 8 from 7-8 p.m., and will share experiences from a panel of four guest speakers: Christine Hand – Home Hardware, Gina Pecore – Genoa Design, Kelly Taylor – Taylor’s Fish & Vegetable Market, and Michelle Porter – Sisters in Fitness. Everyone is welcome to attend and can register through the Town’s website.

“When we share our stories, we help break biases and pave the way towards a more gender-equal world. A world that is more diverse, equitable and inclusive. I am proud to acknowledge that Conception Bay South is making important progress in that area. This is the first time in our town’s history that we have four women elected to our nine-member Council. The Town also has an even split between men and women on its senior management team. Hosting our International Women’s Day event is another important step in the right direction,” says Deputy Mayor Andrea Gosse.
