The Town of Conception Bay South is being proactive in an effort to identify and meet the needs of the local business community. The Town will begin a new Business Retention & Expansion (BR + E) telephone survey in September to collect information from business owners that will be used to help plan future economic development activities.

“We recognize the importance of our small business community. Last year, we celebrated 64 new businesses in Conception Bay South, bringing the total number of commercial properties in the Town to 620. We also experienced a 10 per cent increase in housing starts over the previous year. Conception Bay South continues to be a desired location to live and to work, and the feedback received from this survey will help staff focus on the top priorities of local entrepreneurs, and help make the Town more attractive for investors,” said Mayor Terry French.

The vibrancy and prosperity of the Town, as well as the region, is strongly connected to the success of existing businesses. The project is scheduled to last until October, when all the results of the survey are gathered and analyzed.

“Council has a keen desire to support our business community, and this initiative will collect valuable information to ensure our local entrepreneurs have everything they need to succeed,” said Mayor Terry French.

With a population of more than 26,000, Conception Bay South is the second largest municipality in Newfoundland and Labrador. The Town is focused on becoming the community of choice for families wanting to establish long-term roots as evidenced by continued population growth. Conception Bay South has also established an “Open for Business” mindset and offers promising commercial, industrial and tourism investment opportunities.
