Topsail Beach Rotary Park Undergoes Review for Safety Enhancements

The Town of Conception Bay South has engaged the services of an engineering firm to review safety enhancements to one of its most popular attractions, Topsail Beach Rotary Park.

“Topsail Beach Rotary Park has always been a popular spot. It offers a place for swimming, whale watching, bonfires, hiking, and has incredible ocean views and sunsets. While traffic naturally increases here during the summer months, this year it’s greater than ever. Although most people visiting the beach are respectful, area residents have raised concerns with Council on traffic volumes and excessive noise due to screeching tires and revving engines. The park is a top attraction for our town and we want to keep this area safe and enjoyable to visit,” said Mayor Terry French.

In addition to extra people visiting the park due to many COVID-19 facility closures, the Mayor also noted that the Town has put a large focus on marketing campaigns and tourism strategies over the last couple of years, which have further increased the park’s popularity. Town staff are now reviewing staffing models to increase coverage to all areas of the town with increased traffic.

“While we are delighted to see so many people exploring Conception Bay South, we want to ensure they are doing so safely. We look forward to receiving recommendations from the consultant and working towards a positive solution,” said Mayor French.
