State of Emergency

Pharmacies and Warming Centre to open in Conception Bay South
State of Emergency to be Lifted January 19 at 4 p.m.

In order for residents to obtain necessary medication, the Town of Conception Bay South is allowing pharmacies to open, effective immediately. The Salvation Army Church, 331 Conception Bay Highway, will open as a warming centre at 1:00 p.m. Residents are permitted to travel to pharmacies and to the warming centre.

Snow clearing contractors and services are now allowed to operate for the purposes of snow clearing only.

If you do not require medication or access to the warming centre, and are not a snow clearing service, do not leave your home.  If you must leave your home for those purposes, please take your time, drive slowly, and watch for snowplows and pedestrians.

Thanks to the diligent work of snow clearing operators, the Town of Conception Bay South will be lifting the state of emergency effective 4:00 p.m. today, January 19, 2020.

After the ban has been lifted, the Town asks residents to remain at home unless absolutely necessary. This is to ensure clean-up efforts remain as effective as possible, and that emergency vehicles have priority access. Roads near the coastline are damaged and certain areas are still impassable. The T’Railway is closed from Greeleytown Road to Seal Cove.

The Town of Conception Bay South would like to thank all essential service personnel for their tireless efforts to ensure the safety of residents. The Town would also like to thank residents for their patience, understanding, and cooperation during the state of emergency.
