Welcome to the T’Railway Trek Half Marathon, an extraordinary race that takes you on a journey through history! Race across the historic pathways of the old Newfoundland railbed as you travel through the nine beautiful coastal communities that amalgamated decades ago to form the Town of Conception Bay South.

The T’Railway Trek Half Marathon offers a scenic and uniquely challenging cross-country course that you won’t want to miss.

Registration Closed: The T’Railway Trek Half Marathon has reached its capacity of 300 participants. Registration is now closed.

The T’Railway Trek Half Marathon starts at the Richard Parsons Memorial Field in Conception Bay South and travels along Route 60.

The race starts at 8:00 a.m. and the course will close at 12:00 p.m. After this time, racers are expected to move off any roadways, and respect regular traffic flow. Road closures times for specific races portions can be found under the Road Closure Section.

Please note that the T’Railway will not be closed for the exclusive use of the Half Marathon.  Participants can expect normal trail traffic during the duration of the race, and should exercise appropriate road safety when using crosswalks.

Here’s a detailed overview of the route:

  • Start Point: Richard Parsons Memorial Field
  • Route: Follow Route 60 to Doyles Road
  • T’Railway Access: Enter the T’Railway at Doyles Road and head east
  • Shoreline Segment: Travel along the shoreline, crossing Route 60 at Greeleytown Road
  • Continue on T’Railway: Pass through Kitty Ades Turn (Route 60 intersection) and proceed eastbound
  • Farthest Point: Reach the intersection with Millers Road and Ortega Drive
  • Frog Pond Road: Proceed north on Frog Pond Road and turn left onto Topsail Road
  • Final Stretch: Continue down Topsail Road, turning off at Topsail Beach Road
  • Finish Line: Cross the finish line at Topsail Beach

Race Kit Pick-Up
If someone else is picking up the race kit on your behalf, please notify the Recreation & Leisure Services Department by September 19, 2024 at [email protected].
Time: 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Location: Recreation Complex, 10 Remembrance Square, CBS
Important Notice: Race kits CANNOT be picked up the day of the event.

Race Arrival
Racers are encouraged to carpool or be dropped off at the starting location. Parking is also available at:

  • Parsons Rotary Clubhouse, 1706 Conception Bay Hwy 
  • CNA Seal Cove Campus
  • CBS Town Hall, 11 Remembrance Square
    • Free shuttle busses will be provided from the CBS Town Hall. Beginning at 6:45 a.m., busses will pick up participants at the Town Hall and transport them to the start line on a load-and-go basis. The last bus will depart the Town Hall at 7:20 a.m.
    • When the race concludes (approximately 12:00 p.m.), a shuttle bus will be available to bring you back to the CBS Town Hall.

Award Presentation
Time: 11:30 a.m. 
Location: Topsail Beach Rotary Park, 21 Topsail Beach Road

Motorists can expect road closures and traffic delays along the race course on the day of the race, between the hours of 7:50 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible to avoid delays. Road closures and traffic delays can be expected:

Road Closures: Accessible to emergency vehicles only

    • 7:50 am – 8:10 am: Route 60 at Richard Parsons Memorial Field will be closed, including Daniels Road and Nextor Place. 
    • 7:50 am – 8:45 am: Route 60 at Peacekeepers Way to Doyles Road will be closed. 
    • 8:30 am – 11:00 am: Dicks Place from Dicks Lane to Pottles Lane will be closed. 
    • 8:45 am – 12:00 pm: Frog Pond Road and Tree Tops Lane will be closed. 
    • 8:45 am – 12:00 pm: Topsail Road at Frog Pond Road to Topsail Beach Road will be closed. A detour will be in effect. 
    • 8:45 am – 12:00 pm: Topsail Beach Road, including Geehans Drive, and Murphys Lane, will be closed. 

Traffic Interruptions:

From 8:20 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., traffic delays can be expected at various locations:

    • T’Railway Intersection – Delaneys Road
    • T’Railway Intersection – Battens Road
    • Conception Bay Highway (Route 60) at Greeleytown Road
    • T’Railway Intersection – Dunns Hill Road 
    • Conception Bay Highway (Route 60) at Minerals Road
    • T’Railway Intersection – Country Path Road
    • T’Railway Intersection – Anchorage Road
    • T’Railway Intersection – Tobins Road
    • T’Railway Intersection – Dawsons Run
    • T’Railway Intersection – Easons Road
    • T’Railway Intersection – Sweetenwater Ave
    • T’Railway Intersection – Fowlers Road
    • T’Railway Intersection – Spruce Hill Road
    • T’Railway Intersection – Millers Road / Ortega Drive 

Please be aware that the T’Railway will experience increased traffic from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Please be respectful to all race participants.

For participant safety, the use of headphones and strollers is not permitted during the race.

The race course will officially close at 12:00 p.m. At this time, any remaining participants must move to the side of the roadway as regular traffic will resume.

Parking will be available for spectators at:

  • CBS Town Hall, 11 Remembrance Square

Shuttle Bus Services: 

  • At approximately 8:00 a.m., shuttle busses at the race start line will head to the Town Hall to pick up spectators and then proceed to Topsail Breeze. 
  • Topsail Breeze Shuttle: A shuttle bus service will be available from Topsail Breeze Tavern & Cafe to bring you to the finish line. Shuttle bus service ongoing throughout the race. Pedestrian access to the finish line will not be permitted. 
  • A shuttle bus will be available to bring you back to the CBS Town Hall.
