The Conception Bay South Recreation Complex offers a preschool program consisting of 8 levels: Starfish, Duck, Sea Turtle, Sea Otter, Salamander, Sunfish, Crocodile and Whale.
Adult Swim Program
The Conception Bay South Recreation Complex currently offers both Red Cross Swim Basics and Red Cross Swim Strokes. These swimming programs are designed to meet your individual needs. Learn to swim in Red Cross Swim Basics, develop or improve strokes in Red Cross Swim Strokes. Register anytime! Course offered Tuesday 8 p.m.-9 p.m.
These include Bronze Cross, Bronze Medallion, Bronze Star, and the Junior Lifeguard Club.
THE JUNIOR LIFEGUARD CLUB
The Junior Lifeguard Club (JLCoffers fun for kids 8 years and up, who can swim at least 25m and tread water for 2 minutes, or those who have completed Swim Kids 8. JLC provides an action-packed challenge for kids who love the water but who want more than lessons. JLC is for quick learners, those between levels or programs, and those who thrive in an energetic learning environment.
Bronze medallion teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue education – judgment, knowledge, skill and fitness. Rescuers learn tows, carries and release methods in preparation for challenging rescues of increased risk. Lifesavers learn to respond to increasingly complex resuscitation situations involving conscious and unconscious victims with an obstructed airway. Lifesavers develop stroke efficiency and endurance in a timed swim. Bronze Medallion is a prerequisite for the Bronze Cross Award. Prerequisites: Minimum age 13 years old.
Bronze Cross is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross teaches the difference between lifesaving and lifeguarding, the principles of emergency procedures and teamwork. Lifesavers learn how to rescue a spinal-injured victim and a pulse-less victim. Bronze Cross is the prerequisite award for all advanced training programs in lifesaving, lifeguarding and leadership. Prerequisites: Bronze Medallion (does not have to be current), 14 years of age within 30 days of the exam.
Shallow Water Fitness
A great way to have fun, exercise, get in shape. This program is offered on Mondays from 3:00-3:55 p.m. Drop-in is $4.00 (HST incl.)
This program is also offered on Thursdays from 8:00-9:00 p.m. Participants can register for 8 weeks, which is $37.40 (hst inc) or they can drop-in if spots are available for $5.25 (HST incl). To register, please visit the pool front desk.
School or Group Swimming Lessons
We currently have space available during weekdays to provide our exciting Red Cross swim program to your school. We offer very competitive prices, great instruction and a highly qualified staff who can meet and exceed your expectations. The times we have available for school lessons or swims run from 9 a.m. to noon Monday to Friday depending on the number of children you have. Please be advised that our times available are subject to change depending on staffing.
Birthday Parties/Pool Parties
The Recreation Complex is the ideal place to host a birthday party, conference or function. Our rentals include 1 hour of pool time and 1 hour of party room time. If you are not interested in the pool portion or the upstairs portion, we do offer several other options to suit your needs. In the party room you have access to the full kitchen, which includes an oven, microwave and refrigerator. We take the liberty of setting up the covered tables and chairs.
CBS Bluefins Swim Club
A year-round club and offers both competitive and pre-competitive programs. It operates out of a 4-lane, 25m pool and has a current membership of about 60 swimmers, ranging in age from 7–18. The club has several different training groups, which each have their own practice schedule and coaches. Each group is specifically designed to provide swimmers with the necessary skill set to either compete or improve on their swimming capabilities. CBS Silhouettes Synchronized Swimming Club
The CBS Silhouettes Synchronized Swimming Club offers two programs. The Recreational Program teams meet once per week and swimmers have fun while learning the basics of synchronized swimming. The Competitive Program consists of four teams that meet several times per week, depending on the age group of a team. Interested in trying this amazing sport? The Silhouettes host a free Try Synchro Day on each of the two weekends following Labor Day in September. The Try Synchro Days are for swimmers aged six and up, who are comfortable swimming in the deep end of the pool, and are able to follow instruction from a coach. 2019 Fall Swim Schedule
Schedule Effective September 3 – December 31, 2019
Children under 8 years old must be accompanied by an adult in the water during all swims. Adults must accompany children in the water at family swims. Children cannot attend this swim alone.
