Programs & Activities

The Town of Conception Bay South is a family-oriented municipality that strives to provide a wide range of exceptional community programs and activities for residents of all ages.

The Town of Conception Bay South is offering three summer day camps for children from Kindergarten to Grade 6.

  • Camp Kaleidoscope – This camp is for children who have completed Kindergarten or Grade 1 as of June 28, 2021.
  • Camp Courageous– This camp is for children who have completed Grade 2 or 3 as of June 28, 2021.
  • Camp Adventure– This camp is for children who have completed Grades 4, 5, or 6 as of June 28, 2021.

Due to COVID-19, each camp has an inclusive age range of 5-13. This is done so that anyone who wishes to register their children in the same camp, to stay within their family bubble, can do so. While any child could be registered in any camp program, it’s important to note the age ranges of each respective camp, as activities are planned to suit that age.

Camp Details

Summer Day Camp will run from June 28 – August 20, 2021.

All three camps will be located at the Conception Bay South Arena.  To ensure the safety of all children and staff, and to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines, each camp will have its own, separate section (including open space area and washroom facilities).  There will not be any overlap between camps.  There will be a reduced capacity of 20 children per camp.  Each camp will be divided into smaller pods of 10 children.  Children will stay within their designated pod for the duration of summer camp.

Camp activities will run from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., daily.  If needed, parents can utilize the early drop-off and late pick up times for no additional cost.  Early drop off starts at 7:45 a.m., and the latest pick up is 5:15 p.m.

Please note, the Town may at any time, change these details to ensure provincial health compliance.

Cost

The cost for the Summer Day Camp Program is $125 per week, and $100 for any additional children in the same household.

Conception Bay South is home to two, beautiful community gardens.

Gateway Garden is located on the grounds near the Conception Bay South Arena on Graham Mifflen Drive. It features a rustic fence, as well as an outdoor classroom and stage area.

Manuels River Garden is located on the grounds of the ManuelsRiver Interpretation Centre, at 7 Conception Bay Highway. This garden features a rustic greenhouse, communal-raised beds and ground-level beds, various vegetable and flower gardens, berry bushes, and a garden library. This site was a collaborative project by the CBS Community Garden, Manuels River, and Rotary Avalon Northeast.

These community gardens give residents the opportunity to learn about growing food and food sustainability. They are a place for the community to come together, enjoy the benefits of gardening, and to take part in special events.
