Art Contest – Community Cookbook Cover

As part of it’s Foodie Fridays virtual program, the Town will be creating a Community Cookbook, which will be available for purchase. All proceeds of this Community Cookbook will be donated to the CBS / Paradise Community Foodbank.

We are holding an art contest for children ages 6-12 to design the cover of this cookbook. Send us your artwork that shows us what you love about Conception Bay South. The title of the cook book will be “Recipes from the Heart”. Entries should be no larger than 8.5 x 11 inches in size and should submitted by email to

Webinar – Nutrition for Mental Health

Take advantage of this great, virtual Nutrition/Wellness opportunity! Hosted by Registered Holistic Nutritionist, Amanda Janes, this will be a FREE Nutrition Webinar, that you can take part in from your own home. The Webinar will be broadcast through a ZOOM Webinar by Recreation staff using the ZOOM App, which is free to download.

Trivia Night

Test your knowledge in our Virtual Trivia Night! The game will be broadcast through a Zoom meeting by Recreation staff using the Zoom App, which you can download for free.

Pre-registration is required. To register, please email and include your intended participant name (ex: Maria’s iPhone, Trevor Trivia, etc.). This will be required to have entry into the game.

This is a general knowledge trivia night with a knowledge level for teenagers and adults.

Foodie Fridays

Join us for Foodie Fridays! A chance for residents to share their recipes and delicious culinary creations with others. Each week will have a different theme of meal idea for people to share.  Each week’s food challenge will be posted as a Facebook event.

Post a picture and the complete recipe so others can try your meal! At the end of each week, a TOP RECIPE will be featured! 😀

Have your recipe posted in the Facebook event by end of day on Fridays to be considered for the week’s top recipe.

April 17 – Comfort Foods – Share your go-to dish that warms your heart. It can be anything from a casserole to a side dish you love.

April 24 – Sweet Treats – Share that special recipe that makes your sweet tooth smile!

May 1 – Kids Snacks – When the recess bell rings, what snack do your kids ask for? Share the snack recipe that keeps your family going.

May 8 – Meatless Marvels – What ingredient takes center stage in your favorite meatless dish?

May 15 – Family Favorites – Share the recipe that is always a crowd-pleaser.

May 22 – Taste of Home – We want to see your favorite Newfoundland and Labrador inspired dish.  It can be traditional food, or something that reminds you of our wonderful province.

After Foodie Fridays has been completed, top recipes will be put together into a community cook book, which will be available for purchase. All proceeds will go to the CBS / Paradise Food Bank.

Camp Kaleidoscope

This camp is for children who have completed grades K, 1, and 2, as of June 29, 2020.  Location to be announced.

Camp Adventure

This camp is for children who have completed grades 3, 4, 5, and 6, as of June 29, 2020.  Location to be announced.


Camps will run for 8 weeks, from June 29-August 21, 2020. Please take note that Week 1 is a short week due to the Canada Day holiday.

*Please note that all activities and field trips are tentative and subject to change.


Cost is $125 per child per week and $100 for any additional children in the same household

  • Please note that Week 1 will be at a reduced rate of $100 per child and $80 for any additional children in the same household to reflect the 4 day week.

Camp activities will run from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. daily. If needed, parents can use early drop-off and late pick-up times at no additional cost.   Earliest drop-off is 7:45 a.m. and latest pick up is 5:15 p.m.


Registration for Summer Day Camp will open for Conception Bay South residents on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 6:30 pm through the Town’s online registration system.  It will open for non-residents on Wednesday, May 27 at 6:30 pm.

Gateway Garden is located on the grounds near the Conception Bay South Arena on Graham Mifflin Drive. The community garden gives residents the opportunity to learn about growing food and food sustainability. It is a place where the community comes together to enjoy the benefits of gardening and to take part in special events. To stay updated on future plans for community gardening, or to become involved, search CBS Community Garden on Facebook or Instagram, and sign up for e-mail updates.

This is a free program that allows older adults to explore the trails of Conception Bay South. Walks take place on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. Join a group leader at the designated meeting location for a guided walk around our beautiful town. This is free of charge and everyone is welcome. Walks go ahead rain or shine, so please dress appropriately. For more information, please call 834-6500 ext. 601.

The Recreation Complex has two regulation size squash courts. Equipment is available to rent or you may bring your own. In addition to the  junior and senior squash programs, the Recreation Complex also hosts and organizes the first Canadian Inclusive Squash Program.

Squash courts at the CBS Rec Complex

We are looking for youth from Conception Bay South, between the ages of 13 – 21, who want to be a leader and who want to be engaged and involved in our community.  Support and help with various community activities. Voice your important opinions and ideas. Represent all youth.  Please consider joining the Youth Advisory Council.
