The Town of Conception Bay South proudly recognizes its amazing residents and their accomplishments in a variety of fields.
Deadline: The nomination deadline is Thursday, May 2, 2024.
Before filling out your application, please thoroughly review all criteria for each award category and take note of any specific requirements. The selection committee will review all nominations. Finalists in each category will be invited to the Awards Gala on Thursday, May 23, 2024, where winners will be announced.
Award Criteria: Please carefully review the general and specific criteria for each award before submitting a nomination.
All awards are subject to the following criteria, and the Awards Selection Committee reserves the right to change a nomination to an alternative category where it feels appropriate.
The nominees’ primary residence must be Conception Bay South.
Selection Committee members are not eligible for nomination in any category.
Nominators may submit more than one nomination per category, and one person may also be nominated for multiple awards.
Self-nominations will not be accepted.
Posthumous nominations will be accepted, provided the nomination submitted qualifies and meets award criteria in any of the available categories.
Achievements must be from the year 2023.

SPORTS AWARDS
Junior Male Athlete of the Year
Junior Female Athlete of the Year
Senior Male Athlete of the Year
Senior Female Athlete of the Year
Coach of the Year
Executive of the Year
Team of the Year
Sport clubs, schools, associations, or individuals who are not a relative of the nominee may submit the nomination.
Nominees must have received no remuneration in their specialty field.
Nomination should outline nominees’ various levels of competition (International, National, Atlantic, Provincial, Regional/Local), the number of sports (the number of sports played and the level of competition for each sport) and any achievements / accomplishments (Example: MVPs, recognition awards, winning specific tournaments, team success, etc.).
Specific Criteria
Junior Male Athlete of the Year – 16 years of age and under as of December 31, 2023 (born in 2007 or later).
Junior Female Athlete of the Year – 16 years of age and under as of December 31, 2023 (born in 2007 or later).
Senior Male Athlete of the Year – 17 years of age and over as of January 1, 2023 (born in 2006 or earlier).
Senior Female of the Year – 17 years of age and over as of January 1, 2023 (born in 2006 or earlier).
Executive of the Year – eligible for individuals who have made exceptional contributions to a sport or organization in a volunteer capacity, at the executive level.

Community Group of the Year
General Criteria – All Community Award Categories
Clubs, schools, associations, or individuals can submit the nominations.
Contributions can be in any sector of our society. Some examples include Scouts, Guides, recreation, the media, seniors, etc. (as long as it is for non-profit sports groups / organizations / schools).
Nomination should outline nominees’ various levels of contributions (ex: school clubs, community involvement, volunteer events, etc.), and any achievements / accomplishments for outstanding involvement. It should also outline a dedication to volunteering, the scope of the nominee’s community impact and how they have helped make the Town of Conception Bay South a better place to live.
Specific Criteria
Youth Volunteer of the Year – between the ages of 13 – 25 years (13 years of age as of December 31, 2023 and no older than 25 years of age as of December 31, 2023). Nominees cannot have received remuneration for volunteering. Any group, organization, or individual who is not a relative of the nominee may submit the nomination.
Citizen of the Year – over 25 years of age as of January 1, 2023. Nominee has provided volunteer service for a minimum of 3 years (not necessarily with the same volunteer organization or consecutive). Any group, organization, or individual who is not a relative of the nominee may submit the nomination.
Senior Volunteer of the Year – ages 65 and over (65 years of age as of December 31, 2023). Nominees cannot have received remuneration for volunteering. Any group, organization, or individual who is not a relative of the nominee may submit the nomination.
Community Group of the Year – Nominees must be a not-for-profit organization. Nominees cannot have received remuneration for volunteering.
ARTS AND CULTURE AWARDS
Artist of the Year – Visual and Written Arts
Artist of the Year – Performing Arts
Rising Star Award
General Criteria – All Arts and Culture Award Categories
We will accept nominations for groups or individuals of all ages.
Please demonstrate the artists’ contribution and promotion to the arts, accomplishments in their field, fostering and mentoring others and engaging the public in the arts in the nomination.
Specific Criteria
Artist of the Year – Visual and Written Arts: Accomplishments should be in media including but not limited to writing, poetry, art, etc. Any group, organization, or individual who is not a relative of the nominee may submit the nomination.
Artist of the Year – Performing Arts: Accomplishments should be in media including but not limited to drama, music, dance, etc. Any group, organization, or individual who is not a relative of the nominee may submit the nomination.
Rising Star Award: Open to individuals under the age of 19 as of December 31, 2023. We will accept accomplishments for any artistic medium. Any group, organization, or individual who is not a relative of the nominee may submit the nomination.
