The Town of Conception Bay South is modifying its pool schedule and programming to provide more of what its residents want. A new and improved pool schedule will come into effect on January 2, 2019. The schedule changes will allow the Town to provide more private, semi-private and public swimming lessons each week, which are the most popular swim types and which can often see patrons on waiting lists.
“We are realigning our services to provide more of what our residents want. It’s also about some very important cost-saving measures,” said Mayor Terry French. “Council has some tough budgetary decisions to make this year and operations across all departments are being looked at strategically for ways to save money and for ways to enhance service.”
Although some swimming times will change with the roll-out of the new pool schedule, the changes enhance the Town’s recreational programming by allowing the CBS Recreation Complex to provide better opportunities for swimming lessons. This provides a new source of potential revenue and also saves money in pool operating costs. The total benefit is expected to be approximately $180,000. These savings will be used to enhance other core Town services, as well as buy some new items for the pool.
Schedules will be adjusted during off peak times to enhance public usage. The Town would like to thank all pool users who took the time to fill out our survey to receive important feedback on the current pool schedule.
“We hope to see more residents use our pool with the revamp of our schedule,” said Mayor Terry French.
