Notice: Take Precautions During Freeze-Thaw Cycles

The Town of Conception Bay South reminds residents that rapidly changing temperatures create freeze-thaw cycles during winter months that can cause severe water ponding, stream and river overflows and unstable road conditions. Frozen ground prevents water penetration, creating increase surface runoff.
An above-average snow depth, a sudden thaw, or both, has the potential for high volumes of runoff and subsequently flooding increases. The situation can become a greater concern if the snowmelt runoff is compounded with heavy rainfall.
Please take precautions and monitor private properties closely, especially in areas of known flooding, areas below nearby water levels and areas that grade towards a building structure.
When removing snow around your near-by fire hydrant, please take a few moments to clean catch basins or ditch entrances.

To assist the Town with road maintenance, report severe road flooding, potholes and other poor road conditions by contacting the Department of Engineering and Public Works at 834-6500 ext. 301 or email engineering@conceptionbaysouth.ca.  For after hours emergencies, call 834-6529.
Please note that Route 60, Foxtrap Access Road, Peacekeepers Way and the Manuels Bypass are maintained by the Department of Transportation and Works.
