The Town of Conception Bay South is celebrating Year of the Garden in a big way. On Saturday, June 18, 2022 the public is invited to take part in a variety of free activities to honour National Garden Day.
“Every tree, shrub or flower we plant has a positive impact on the environment. Gardening is good for mental and physical health, and for food security. Improving our properties contributes to beautiful neighbourhoods as well. We have a large gardening community in Conception Bay South, but the more people we can inspire to garden, the better. We want everyone to live the garden life,” says Mayor Darrin Bent.

About Year of the Garden
Passion for gardening has never been more evident than during the COVID-19 pandemic. Canadians sheltered at home and turned their yards into practical and beautiful garden sanctuaries, and research shows that this trend is set to continue. As a result of the uptake in gardening throughout the pandemic, the Canadian Garden Council proclaimed 2022 as the “Year of the Garden”. The Town of Conception Bay South followed suit.
