For the second year in a row, the Town of Conception Bay South is hosting a Celebration of Stories to honour International Women’s Day (IWD), acknowledging the achievements of local women and bringing awareness to the 2023 IWD theme: Embrace Equity.
The event will take place on March 8, 2023, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Clarence J. Morgan Building and will share experiences from a panel of four guest speakers. This year, guest panelists include: Jackie McCann Scott, Owner Lupin Planning Group; Laura Purchase, RCMP Sergeant; Andrea Gosse, Deputy Mayor of Conception Bay South, and Kaitlyn Grandy and Stephanie Evans, Raven KASTER leads.
The event includes a panelist discussion, Q & A period, and free refreshments. All guests will receive a Town of CBS 50th Anniversary journal. Everyone is welcome to attend and can register through the Town’s website.
“When we share our stories, we help break biases, embrace equity, and pave the way towards a more gender-equal world. A world that is more diverse, equitable, and inclusive. I am proud to acknowledge that Conception Bay South is making important progress in that area. This is the first time in our town’s history that we have four women elected to our nine-member Council. The Town also has an even split between men and women on its senior management team. Hosting our International Women’s Day event is another important step in the right direction,” says Deputy Mayor Andrea Gosse.
