The Town of Conception Bay South understands that you care about how your property tax dollars are spent. We invite you to participate in our Budget 2024 public consultation process to help us understand your priorities on various civic services.

Building a budget requires balancing affordability for taxpayers with the delivery of services that residents expect. The Town must determine what matters most and make choices between what the community wants and needs, with what it can afford. This is your opportunity to suggest how municipal spending should be prioritized.

INTERACTIVE BUDGET SURVEY

We invite you to use our online Citizen Budget tool. From this interactive tool, you’ll learn:

  • How your tax dollars are allocated among services.
  • How changes to funding will affect service levels.
  • The challenges of balancing property tax increases and desired service levels.

Your participation will provide the Town with helpful information to support our budget process. The results of the online consultation will be reviewed by Council and shared with the public. Thank you for your participation.

POP-UP BUDGET CHATS

Town Council will be hosting pop-up budget chats in the coming weeks. This will be your chance to talk with Councillors one-on-one in an informal setting to share your important feedback, concerns and ideas. This input can help shape the budget by reflecting the needs and desires of our residents. More details, including dates and times, will be made available here soon.

MEET YOUR TOWN COUNCIL

Your Town Council plays a significant role in the municipal budget decision-making process. Councillors set priorities, make funding decisions, engage with the community, ensure fiscal responsibility, and oversee the budget’s implementation. They may reallocate funds, increase or decrease certain budget items, or add new initiatives based on their assessment of community needs. Their actions help shape the financial well-being and future direction of the municipality. Make sure your voice is heard by your Town Council.

There are four wards in the Town of Conception Bay South. Each ward has a Ward Councillor. Other positions include the Mayor and four At Large Councillors. The position of Deputy Mayor is filled by a Councillor as selected by Council.
