Who We Are

Who We Are

A growing community on the edge of nature.

No place on Earth is perfect. But for the best possible mix of rural and urban living, Conception Bay South comes pretty close.

Located just 20 kilometers from the bustling capital city St. John’s, our community of 27,000 features pristine hiking trails, parks, marinas, a beautiful beach, and spectacular ocean views, all set alongside excellent schools, major health care facilities, a commercial port, an industrial park, and a thriving business sector.

Conception Bay South provides affordable real estate, excellent recreation facilities, a safe environment, and some of the best weather in the province. As a result, the town continues to be one of the fastest-growing in Newfoundland and Labrador, and is a community of choice for families wanting to establish long-term roots.

Working in partnership with businesses, community organizations and government departments to promote new economic development opportunities, the town maintains an open-handed approach with a firm commitment to long-term fiscal responsibility, sustainability and, above all, livability.

If that’s not just about perfect, then it’s hard to know what is.

Discover Life in Conception Bay South

  • We are the 2nd largest municipality in NL, with a median age of 43 years and a population of over 27,000 residents.
  • We are a top destination for divers, sailors, and nature enthusiasts, and a community of choice for young families.

Urban living in a rural setting.

Conception Bay South has an excellent transportation network to the airport, downtown St. John’s, and major health care facilities. Residents can also avail of numerous local health-related clinics within the town. Municipal services include curbside waste collection and a recycling program, two 24/7 fire stations, a provincial police detachment, and a municipal enforcement unit.

The Town has two modern and well-equipped high schools, two junior high schools, and five primary/elementary schools. The College of the North Atlantic’s Seal Cove Campus (the College’s petroleum training center) offers entry level and continued education programs for companies involved in the province’s offshore petroleum industry.

Incorporated in 1973, Conception Bay South consists of nine communities (Topsail, Chamberlains, Manuels, Long Pond, Foxtrap, Kelligrews, Upper Gullies, Lawrence Pond, and Seal Cove) all of which follow the beautiful coastline of Conception Bay.

With a thriving business community, strategic location, and continued residential growth, Conception Bay South is a great place to live and do business.
