The Town of Conception Bay South will partner with the City of St. John’s in hosting several sporting events during the 2025 Canada Summer Games. St. John’s was named the official host of these games during an announcement on April 22, 2021.
In developing the bid for the 2025 Games, the City of St. John’s approached the Town to gauge interest in becoming a potential partner for several sporting events. Taking a regional approach, the involvement of surrounding communities was fundamental in planning for 2025. The Town has been named as one of the venues for soccer, and the sole location for all sailing events.
“The Town of Conception Bay South is delighted to support our neighbors, the City of St. John’s, in hosting some of the nation’s greatest athletes, during the 2025 Canada Summer Games. We are excited to welcome competitors and visitors alike, to experience all Conception Bay South has to offer. During the Canada Summer Games of 1977, Conception Bay South was also selected as the ideal site for sailing events, so we are very excited to see this sport return. Our Town is happy to help in any way we can to make the 2025 Canada Summer Games a successful and memorable experience for everyone.”
Held once every two years, alternating between winter and summer, the Canada Games represent the highest level of national competition for able-bodied athletes, as well as athletes with physical and intellectual disabilities. The Games provide a lasting legacy of sport facilities, community pride and national unity.
The Town is looking forward to working with the City of St. John’s to provide a stage for this outstanding event, and producing an unforgettable experience for athletes, spectators and visitors.
