Council has approved of an investment for a Recreation and Cultural Master Plan that will establish guidance and direction for future recreation and cultural activities and infrastructure.
The Master Plan will enable the Town to build on its vision of being a family-oriented community of choice, while providing an enhanced lifestyle and quality of life for residents in a growing, healthy and vibrant community.
“We are pleased to invest in such an important initiative,” said Mayor Terry French. “The Town had great success with the Master Plan process in the past. The Recreation Master Plan in 2008 identified the need for more walking trails as a priority for residents. Our trail network is now one of the best in the province. We look forward to engaging residents and stakeholder groups to identify a plan for future developments that best fits the needs of our growing community.”
A significant component of this plan will include consultation with residents, user groups and stakeholders to create a Master Plan that incorporates relevance and satisfaction levels for all members of the community.
The plan will also include a review of the existing programs and infrastructure, and identify trends and opportunities that are unique to our demographic, while considering the need for new facilities, increased open space, and increased opportunities for leisure and wellness activities for all ages.
