The Town of Conception Bay South is participating in the Newfoundland-Labrador Provincial Edition of the Communities in Bloom evaluation and is asking the community to tidy their properties and pretty their gardens before August 5, 2022.
“We’ve taken on this challenge to help foster pride in our community. By motivating residents and businesses to keep their properties neat and tidy, encouraging environmental improvements, and inspiring more gardening, we hope to enhance the quality of our environment and further progress our sustainable community efforts,” said Mayor Darrin Bent.
The Communities in Bloom program consists of municipalities being evaluated by a volunteer jury of trained professionals on the accomplishments of their entire community on six key criteria: Community Appearance, Environmental Action, Heritage Conservation, Tree Management, Landscape and Plant & Floral Displays.
The town will be rated from 1 to 5 Blooms, based on the scoring obtained. Up to two communities in each province will be invited to participate in the following year’s national edition.
The Communities in Bloom local judges, Gail Pearcey and Peggy Head, will be evaluating the Town of Conception Bay South on August 5, 2022.
Communities in Bloom is a Canadian, non-profit, volunteer and partnership-driven organization that uses a multi-tiered competitive evaluation process to foster community strength, involvement, and continuous improvement. This is accomplished by nurturing environmental sustainability, enhancements of green spaces, and heritage conservation in cultural and natural environments encompassing municipal, residential, commercial, and institutional spaces.
