Conception Bay South is celebrating the Year of the Garden in a big way and you’re invited to join the fun and Live the Garden Life as we celebrate everything garden.  Passion for gardening has never been more evident than during the COVID-19 pandemic. Canadians sheltered at home and turned their yards into practical and beautiful garden sanctuaries, and research shows that this trend is set to continue. As a result of the uptake in gardening throughout the pandemic, the Canadian Garden Council proclaimed 2022 as the “Year of the Garden”. The Town of Conception Bay South followed suit. 

Live the Garden Life Agenda

On Saturday, June 18, 2022, the Town of Conception Bay South celebrated National Gardening Day through a variety of activities and special events.

Communities in Bloom

This year, Conception Bay South is participating in the Communities in Bloom competition. For the competition, the Town will be evaluated in six categories: environmental action, tidiness, heritage conservation, urban forestry, landscape and floral displays. Community involvement is judged throughout all categories. 

How can you get involved? It’s easy! Consider planting flowers and shrubs on your property, upkeeping your lawns, and making sure your neighbourhood is clean. Judging is anticipated for August 10-12, 2022. The Town last participated in this challenge in 2012 and received a score of 4/5. Help us beat our last score to prove that Conception Bay South is even more beautiful now.
