Bright Business Achievement Awards

The Bright Business Achievement Awards recognize businesses in Conception Bay South that go above and beyond. We celebrate these awards during Small Business Week, which is taking place October 17-23, 2020. Small Business Week is an annual celebration of entrepreneurship and an opportunity to network and recognize the vital role played by entrepreneurs in our economy. This year’s theme is: Canada: A nation of entrepreneurs. Showcasing the people behind the business. 

Bright Business Achievement Awards Eligibility Criteria

  1. Must be a registered business within the Town of Conception Bay South.
  2. Businesses must have a significant presence in Conception Bay South and area.
  3. Businesses must be in good standing (not in arrears) with respect to payment of business taxes (a Business Tax Statement from the Town of Conception Bay South’s Department of Finance is required).
  4. Self-nominations are accepted and encouraged.
  5. Length of time in business is determined as per their Town issued Permit to Occupy.
  6. Nominations must be received no later than 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 30, 2020.

Community Pride and Partnership: Commercial or home-based businesses who contribute significantly to recreation, amateur sports, community initiatives, arts and culture, education, and/or charitable groups within the Town, promote the spirit of the Town, are committed to their local community, and are proud to be part of the Town’s business network.

New Start Up: Commercial or home-based businesses who take pride in their business skills, have an impact on the local economy, demonstrated sustainability within the business community, and have been in operation no more than 36 months.

Established Business: Commercial or home-based businesses who have distinguished themselves for their business skills, demonstrated recent notable achievements, are committed to providing exceptional customer service, have an impact on local economy and have been in business longer than 36 months.

Beautiful Business: Commercial businesses who consistently demonstrate pride in the exterior appearance of their buildings and grounds. This award will be granted to two businesses, one operating in a stand-alone (one-tenant) building and one operating in a multiple-tenant building.

 Downtown CBS Member of the Year: A member of the Downtown Conception Bay South Business Improvement Association who has strived to contribute to the overall vision of Downtown Conception Bay South, as set out by the Downtown CBS Board of Management.

David Murphy Leadership (Sponsored by the Conception Bay Area Chamber of Commerce): Commercial or home-based entrepreneurs who demonstrate outstanding entrepreneurial spirit, creativity, and/or innovation in their day to day business activities. Businesses must be members of the CBA Chamber of Commerce.

 Noseworthy Award (Sponsored by the Conception Bay Area Chamber of Commerce): An employee recognition award that celebrates an individual’s long-service and devotion to their employer. Employers must be members of the CBA Chamber of Commerce.
