The Town of Conception Bay South is planning for the 2020 budget process and is encouraging residents to provide their input by using an interactive, online budgeting tool, called Citizen Budget.
“We want residents to help shape our next budget and it’s important for us to know what their priorities are. By using our online budgeting tool, residents will provide us with important feedback on how they’d like to see their tax dollars spent in relation to services and programs in our community. We want our community to be engaged in the decision-making process and we’re encouraging all residents to take a few short minutes and have their say,” says Mayor Terry French.
In addition to the budget tool, the Town is also spearheading a telephone survey to gather valuable information from residents on their priorities for various civic services and programs.
“As Council continues to focus on community engagement and transparency, our public budget consultation process is about residents shaping the 2020 budget,” says Mayor Terry French.
The budget tool can be accessed on the Town’s website until Monday, November 4, 2019 by visiting conceptionbaysouth.citizenbudget.com.
From this interactive tool, residents will learn:
1) How their tax dollars are allocated among services.
2) How changes to funding will affect service levels.
3) The challenges of balancing property tax increases and desired service levels.
The results will be collected over the next month and will inform Council on how residents feel about their tax dollar allocations. Any questions related to the Town’s budget can be directed to the finance department at 834-6500 ext. 210.
