Conception Bay South is situated on the Northeast Avalon Peninsula, nestled on the south side of Conception Bay. It is strategically located approximately 20 kilometers from St. John’s, the capital city, and is in close proximity to the airport and industrial areas in Paradise and Mount Pearl. It is one of the province’s newest towns, made up of some of Newfoundland’s oldest settlements.

The growing town is home to over 26,000 residents who enjoy a high quality of life and some of the best weather in the province. The Town has a thriving business community, and the location and residential growth make Conception Bay South a great place to live and do business. In addition to the excellent highway infrastructure, the Town has a modern port, prime commercial land and major amenities. The Town is less than 30 minutes drive from the major health care facilities serving the region and the province. The coastline offers spectacular views of Kelly’s Island, Little Bell Island, and Bell Island. Conception Bay is a popular choice for divers and sailors, from Foxtrap Marina to the Royal Newfoundland Yacht Club. The Town has two modern and well-equipped high schools, two junior high schools, and five primary/elementary schools. The College of the North Atlantic’s Seal Cove Campus (the College’s petroleum training center) offers entry level and continued education programs for companies involved in the province’s offshore petroleum industry.

Incorporated in 1973, Conception Bay South consists of nine communities (Topsail, Chamberlains, Manuels, Long Pond, Foxtrap, Kelligrews, Upper Gullies, Lawrence Pond, and Seal Cove) all of which follow the coastline of Conception Bay.
