Planning and Development

Located on the second floor of Villa Nova Plaza, the Planning and Development Department is responsible for:

• Municipal Planning
  
• Development Control
  
• Building Inspections
  
• Municipal Enforcement.

Under the Urban and Rural Planning Act, 2000, the Town of Conception Bay South has the legal authority to plan for and regulate development and land use. The Planning and Development Department carries out these responsibilities by:

• Advising Council on planning and development matters;
  
• Processes all development applications to ensure that development is carried out in accordance with the policies of the Conception Bay South Municipal Plan and Development Regulations;
  
• Issues building permits and carries out building inspections;
• Manages the Town's geographic information system including the interactive maps; and
  
• Enforces the Town’s regulations and bylaws.
