Bulk Waste

BULK GARBAGE PROGRAM - 2010


Appointments for curb side pick-up of bulk garbage items can be made by residents by calling 834-6524 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

As per Budget 2010 there will be no charge for senior citizens over 65. All other residents are required to pay a fee of $25.00 (HST included)  in advance of the pick-up date.

Garbage scheduled to be picked up at residences by appointment shall be placed at the curb by the resident not earlier than 48 hours prior to the scheduled pick-up date. Garbage placed at the curb prior to their time as allowed in accordance with the Regulations which, in the opinion of the Town, is unsightly or constitutes a hazard will be picked up by the Town and the resident will be charged the cost of the pick-up.

Items that are placed at the curb by residents without a scheduled appointment will be picked up by the Town and the resident will be charged the cost of the pick-up.

Items which are not eligible to be picked up by the Town in accordance with the Regulations and are placed at the curb by residents will be picked up by the Town or it’s designate and the resident shall be charged the cost of the pick-up. The rate that shall be charged residents for any pick-up by the Town in accordance with the Regulations shall be $100.00 per hour.

The illegal dumping of any items by residents shall be removed by the Town where possible and any charges that are incurred by the Town in picking up illegally dumped material shall be the responsibility of the residents.

All items of bulk garbage, i.e. sofas, fridges, stoves, appliances, bicycles, shall be considered bulk items and be eligible for pick-up under the Bulk Garbage Program; however, the following items shall not be eligible for pick-up:

1. Car wrecks, parts, frames, engines
2. Debris from building renovations or demolitions
3. Asphalt shingles
4. No tree limbs unless cut and bundled
(maximum weight 50 lbs., maximum length 4 feet)
5. Earthen material, rocks, bricks, concrete, soil, etc.
6. Discarded vehicle oil and partially filled paint cans
7. Tires
8. Propane tanks
9. Hazardous material such as ammonia, acids, pharmaceutical products, paints, oils, pesticides, etc.,
10. It weighs more than 300 lbs.
11. Construction material

The Town reserves the right to refuse to pick up any item which may not be listed above and its decision shall be final.
