Make a visit to Conception Bay South part of your travel plans to our province. There's plenty to see and do in the scenic town with 20km of accessible coastline, just minutes from St. John's. Visit the world famous Manuals River and search for trilobite fossils spend a day at Topsail Beach, or spend a day on beautiful Conception Bay.

The Annual Conception Bay South Winterfest will be taking place from February 4th-19th, 2012. This will be a fun filled week with prizes and activities for all. There will be entertainment, sports, outdoor activities and more! All Winterfest activities promote wellness, family and community development.

Some of our scheduled events include the Community Pancake Breakfast, The Spirit of Newfoundland Dinner Show, the 13th Annual Annie Parsons Shield and the 16th Annual Fred Squires Shield Hockey Tournaments! Don’t forget about the Snow Sculpture Contest, free skating and swimming, and the many sports tournaments.

2012 DONATION PROGRAM


The Town of Conception Bay South invites applications from sporting, cultural, environmental, educational, youth and other non-profit organizations/groups who are requesting the financial support of the Town through the form of a donation for the year 2012.

This program has limited funding and is available to qualifying organizations, whose goals are to sustain and preserve the abundance of community minded programs for the residents of the Town of Conception Bay South.

The Minister of Municipal Affairs has adopted St. John's Urban Region Regional Plan Amendment No. 6, 2011.  The Town Council of Conception Bay South has subsequently adopted Conception Bay South Municipal Plan Amendment No. 33, 2011 and Conception Bay South Development Regulations Amendment No. 40. 2011.

A public hearing to consider objects and respresentation on the amendments to the St. John's Urban Region Regional Plan and amendments to the Conception Bay South Municipal Plan and Development Regulations will be held at 7:30 pm on Wednesday February 8, 2012 at the Royal Canadian Legion, 60 Legion Road, Conception Bay South.

In general terms, the purpose of St. John's Urban Region Regional Plan Amendment No. 6, 2011 is to re-designate land south of the Conception Bay Bypass at Legion Road from "Rural" to "Urban Development".  To view the Regional Plan amendment, please click here.

In general terms, the purpose of Conception Bay South Municipal Plan Amendment No. 33, 2011 is to re-designate land south of the Conception Bay Bypass at Legion Road to "Regional Centre" to provide fore the development and expansion of the comprehensively developed reatin and business centre.  The exisignte Gateway will also be redesignated "Regional Centre".  An expanded Open Space Conservation designation is provided along the Lower Gullies River.  To view the Municipal Plan Amendment, please click here

In general terms, the purpose of the Conception Bay South Development Regulations Amendment No. 40, 2011 is to rezone land south of the Conception Bay Bypass at Legion Road to "Regional Centre".  The existing Gateway will also be rezoned "Regional Centre".  Land along the Lower Gullies River will be redesignated "Open Space Conservation".  This amendment also specifies the range of uses as well as development standards for the Regional Centre Land Use Zone.  To view the Development Regulations Amendment, please click here

Anyone wishing to make an objection or representation at the Public Hearing shall, at least 2 days before the date set of the Public Hearing, deposit with the Planning and Development Department, as signed, written statement outlining the objection or representation.  If no written objection or representation is received within the time indicated, the Public Hearing may be cancelled.

These amendments may be viewed during normal business hours at the Planning and Development Department located at 120 Conception Bay Highway(2nd floor, Villa Nova Plaza).  Written representations can be emailed to planning@conceptionbaysouth.ca, faxed to (709) 834-6503 or mailed to the address below.
